Letter for Humanity

ACTION PLAN| 8 to 10 JULY

Pre-Campaign (07.07.2024) - Urgent launch of the public Open Letter

• Addressed to national MEPs.

• Short and incisive text: "The motion of censure is also a vote on Gaza. Anyone who votes NO legitimises genocide."

• Signed by public figures, collectives and activists (if possible, if not we'll collect their signatures on the go) • Publish on the website and networks with a link to signatures (even symbolic ones).

Campaign objective:

Use 8, 9 and 10 July to put Palestine at the centre of the motion of censure, forcing national MEPs and European allies to take a public stance - and hold them politically accountable for their choice.

Day 1 (Tuesday 8 July - Total mobilisation and public visibility):

Goal: Create immediate impact, viralise the link between the motion and the genocide in Gaza, and start public pressure.

Strong digital campaign

• Hashtags: #CensorshipForGaza and #VonDerLeyenResponsible.

• Images and short videos with testimonies from Palestinians and/or supporters in the country. • Fill up comments and DMs from national MEPs on social media.

• Publicise the contacts and emails of national MEPs - encourage mass messaging (template included).

Organised direct pressure

• Send the open letter by email to ALL national MEPs, calling on them to respond publicly. • Include an email template for citizens to send in 2 clicks.

• Launch a telephone campaign (short, respectful): "The people demand that you vote in favour of the motion. Not in our name."

Day 2 (Wednesday 9 July - Public action and final appeal):

Aim: To create visible public pressure and generate moral and reputational costs for those who vote against.

Symbolic micro-protests

• Rapid action in front of the EU Office in Lisbon or PS / IL headquarters.

• Posters: "If you vote against the motion, you're voting for genocide."

• Deliver open letter by hand (with photo/video record).

Highly focussed network campaign

• 6pm: "Twitter/X storm" with everyone sharing videos with direct messages to MEPs.

o Ex: "MEP X, are you voting for Von der Leyen or for justice in Gaza?"

• Publish a list of MEPs' expected votes, with fields: "Confirmed?", "Silent?", "Complicit?"

1-minute videos (if possible)

• Testimonies from Palestinians in the diaspora or allies saying:

• "There is no Europe without justice. To vote against the motion is to be an accomplice to genocide."

Day 3 (Thursday 10 July - Vote and public response):

Aim: To make the vote visible, record positions and hold MEPs publicly accountable.

Live monitoring of the vote

• Broadcast on social media (or project, if there is a public space).

• Real-time comments on each national vote.

• Share immediate reactions.

Organised public reaction

• Publicise graph or list of national MEPs' votes:

o "Voted for genocide" / "Voted for justice".

• Press release and networks:

"Today, Europe has decided whether to remain complicit or to start holding its leaders accountable."

Symbolic closing

• If possible: final visual action - projection, mural or poster with the phrase:

"Von der Leyen: your mandate is stained with blood".
